On May 7th,1915 at aproximatley 2:10pm, a german U-boat struck the hull of the Lusitania causing the ship to sink. The Lusitania was a Britian cruise liner that was used to transport passengers across the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. The ship was fisrt constructed in 1903 and was completed in 1907. This was one of the fastest cruise liners at the time, cranking out a whopping 68,000 horse power, and had an average speed of 25 knots. The ship had left from New York City and was heading for Liverpool. Near the cost of Ireland the Lusitania had almost reached her destiny. That's when a German U-boat shot a torpedo and sank the ship.

The two reasons for the German U-boat sinking the ship was, one, the Llusitania was secrectly carring war supplies for the allied forces, and two, the German forces had setup a blockade around the Mediterranean Sea and the British Isle. On board the Lusitania was 1,924 passengers and 114 American citizens who also sunk with the ship.
