World War I reparation refers to the payments and transfers of property and equipment the Germany was forced to make under the Treaty of Versailles, following a defeat in World War I. This treaty declared Germany and its allies responsible for all losses and damages suffered by the Allies during the war and provided the basis for reparations.

In January 1921 the total sum due was decided by an International-Allied Reparations Commission and was set at 269 billion gold marks. Germany had to pay off all of the reparations. Ninety years after Germany signed the Treaty of Versailles to end World War I the country continues to pay off reparations. Germany has to pay reparations back to Great Britain, France, and Russia. They gave them back the land that they stole and money to rebuild their nations.

Reparations contributed to a depression in Europe. Germany printed more money so their money became worth nothing.
